Sunday Confessions #2

Sunday Confessions is hosted by Marcie from To Read or Not To Read. Every Sunday there is a question that we are to answer. It might be book related or it could just be random. The point of this meme is for Marcie to let us know more about her while learning more about us as we participate.

This week's question:

How do you arrange your bookshelves?

My response: I put them in ABC order by book title. However (this is the complicated part), when I have a series. Okay - example: The Angel Experiment is the first book in the Maximum Ride series. I put in on the shelf by "Angel". Then, all the books in the MR series after that go right behind The Angel Experiment, even if their title doesn't put them right there. So all my series books are right there together. :)

So, how do you arange your shelves??

What's Your Status #2

What's Your Status is hosted by Zakiya from Butterfly Feet Walking on Life.

You are supposed to tell what you're finished with in the last week, what you're currently reading and where you are in the book(s), what you want to read next, and what you want to buy/get next.

I never really know what I'm going to read or buy next, so I won't be posting those two.

There is also a beginning portion that Zakiya saw on the blog Small Review where you post what reviews you have done in the past week, and what memes you participated in. I will be posting this part as well.

Here's my status this week:

Waiting on Wednesday: Angel (Maximum Ride, #7)

Found this one while Googling Wednesday memes. Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. In our weekly posts, we are to feature a book that we're eagerly anticipating!

This week I am squirmingly waiting for

By James Patterson
Publication Date: February 14, 2011

From Goodreads.com:

In the seventh book in the bestselling series, evil scientists are still trying to convince Max that she needs to save the world, this time by providing the genetic link in speeding up the pace of evolution. Worse, they're trying to convince her that her perfect mate is Dylan, the newest addition to the flock. The problem is that, despite herself, Max is starting to believe it.

Fang travels the country collecting his own gang of evolved humans, but the two separate flocks must unite to defeat a frightening doomsday cult whose motto is Save the Planet: Kill the Humans. And this time, the true heroine, for once, might just be little Angel.

Review: Who Moved My Cheese? for Teens

Who Moved My Cheese? for Teens by Spencer Johnson
Published in 2002 by G. P. Putnam's Sons
Genres: Young Adult, Fiction, Self-Help

I loved this novel. It was a great read for if you are bad at adapting to change. Anyone who hasn't read this seriously needs to read it, thogh. Even if you adjust to change easily.

The four main characters - the mice Sniff and Scurry, and the Littlepeople Hem and Haw - live in a Maze and have to search for cheese everyday.

"Cheese" is a metaphor for what you want to have in life - whether it is foing well at school, making a team, getting a good job, finding a loving relatioiniship, or just feeling good about yourself.

And the "Maze" is where you look for what you want - your school, where you work and play, or the family or community you live in.

It starts off sort of face-paced, but then everything slows down as Haw and Hem wait for the Cheese in Cheese Station C to come back (I'm not telling more than that because I don't want to spoil). Haw learns some really good things from The Handwriting on the Wall, and I did, too. It made me think about the things I've done in my past when there was a big change. I just shake my head and think about what I want to make out of myself. This book really helps you to forgive and forget your past and look forward to the future, to picture yourself doing wonderful things and then reaching that accomplishment you invisioned.

Like I said, if you haven't read this novel yet, you really need to. It will definitely help. It helped me a LOT. There is also a version that isn't teen, for you adults out there who might be interested :)

My Rating: 10 Dead Fish

Sunday Confessions #1

I saw this on one of the blogs I am following, and decided that I should participate.

This week's question:

Do you need silence to read?

My response: Yay and nay. I like to have silence when I read because it's easier to concentrate on the book, and not get lost in someone's conversation or a song, etc. At the same time, I am slowly getting used to being around a lot of noise when I read. I have started thinking that I am in a completely silent room; then - you guessed it -  it IS quiet and I can read. I believe, however, that this is just my way of blocking things out. Which would make a lot of sense :)

So, do YOU need silence to read??

Review: Evermore (Immortals, #1)

Evermore (Immortals, #1) by Alyson Noel
Published in 2009 by St. Martin's Griffin
Genres: Young Adult, Fantasy, Coming of Age, Romance

This novel was really great! It had lots of romance in it, a girl struggling through her recent loss of her family, and just a smidge of action. Damen was really mysterious. He was always disappearing somewhere, or appearing right next to you when you least expected it. Ever, the main character, has two best friends named Haven and Miles. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't Haven's real name because she is really obsessed with vampires. Miles is gay, and loves acting, but from his behaviors in the story, I believe he would be a really great friend.

A cool addition to the book is that Ever can see ghosts who haven't went on to the other side already; they are basically just lingering behind. Well, Ever's little sister Riley died in the car accident that killed their mom, dad, and dog. Ever was the only one to survive. Anywho, Rilely just sort of pops in and out of the story, but I really like the way the characters do that. It keeps you from knowing exactly what's sgoing to happen and when.

My favorite character in this novel was probably... Ever. She learned how to deal with new problems, which, now that I am thinking about it, was usually a person. There was Damen's mysterious friend who happened to be a girl; a woman who can see Riley just as well as Ever, and knows Ever can see her, too; and well, Damen himself. Apparently he's upposed to be gorgeous and knows how to do everything. I would love to meet him if he were real!

Anyways, if you haven't read this book yet, you really need to. It was a fun read, and actually, I was done with it before I knew what was happening. That's the sign of a good book :).

My Rating: 10 Dead Fish
